What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Foreman position at Wilson & Cofield?
DESCRIPTION:
The role as a Foreman for Wilson & Cofield Electric Service Inc. is hands on, leading, and monitoring installations while ensuring work is performed according to Wilson & Cofield Electric Service Inc. standards and specific project specifications. The Foreman must work cooperatively with the general contractor and/or the customer managing the project, project schedules, and employees. A Foreman is responsible for maintaining productivity, quality control, labor cost, scheduling, safety, and acquisition of materials and any other activities that impact the success of completing a project. The Foreman is expected to be hands on with installation, management, and training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ELECTRICAL FOREMAN:
- Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical drawings.
- Achieve Wilson & Cofield Electric Service Inc. productivity objectives by effectively managing and assigning tasks to crew members, while maintaining the project schedule timeline.
- Manage and plan project execution by coordinating material needs and purchasing for projects (request POs as needed).
- Adhere to project contract document changes and any Wilson & Cofield Electric Service Inc. changes order along with Work Authorizations from Customer.
- Ensure the proper safety equipment, materials, and tools are onsite to perform the required work.
- Equip superintendent/project manager with enough notice of any crew/work schedule changes utilizing a Two Week Look Ahead protocol.
- Utilize a proactive and customer service approach to anticipate and resolve potential issues. Address the problem with a solution.
- Ensure crew members start and finish work shift on time, communicate daily on duties and tasks needed to be completed to maintain project schedule.
- Communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals including project owners, architects, general contractors, management, crew members, etc., all while maintaining a level of professionalism.
- Ensure all work performed meets with NEC, federal, state, county, local codes, and contract documents.
- Coordinate layout, installation, and termination of concrete pads, conduit, panels and hoods, fixtures, gear, equipment, and wiring.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Tangible and intangible talents to lead, instruct, and motivate a team.
- A minimum of 2 years of field experience working as a Lead Electrician.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively order and track materials, perform labor projections, and develop “as-builts”.
- Strong, first-hand knowledge and experience related to scheduling, material lead times, product knowledge, and installation durations.
- Solid understanding of the electrical codes and installation methods.
- Well-versed in the installation of power systems: lighting, fire protection, security, and data networks.
- Experience in verifying the compliance and functionality of installations.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a high stressed environment and maintain clear focus on the overall objective of providing a high level of Customer Service.
