Key Responsibilities
Following Wilson & Company’s pursuit development process, using a consistent set of pursuit tools, and applying best practice/issue, solution, benefit, proof (ISBP) principles, take full ownership and leadership of pursuit team efforts to develop proposals, presentations, and supporting materials and campaigns; facilitate strategy discussions; and deliver compliant, clear, and compelling pursuits. Specific tasks include:
- Proposal development and presentation: Develop comprehensive pursuit strategies that align with the firm's goals and objectives. Oversee the development of high-quality proposals, ensuring they are compelling, comprehensive, and aligned with client needs. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the content is tailored to client needs and reflects the firm's strengths. Learns and understands the Wilson & Company brand initiatives and pursuit life cycle process and develops a working knowledge of our centralized database. Help ensure pursuits are accurately tracked through the Vantagepoint pipeline. Lead presentation efforts for major pursuits, articulating the firm’s value proposition and differentiators.
- Highly important and strategic pursuit leadership: Lead the development and implementation of capture strategies for major projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and success in strategic pursuits. Lead the development and execution of the entire win strategy to include win theme development, capture plan, ISBP development, competitive assessments, shaping strategy, teaming strategy, and go/no-go recommendations. Drives strategy through communicating and tracking progress on assignments and action items; continues to share updates and new information with pursuit teams; continues to refine messaging.
- Client account management program implementation: Participate and/or facilitate developing client interaction plans and client account management plans to help prioritize, focus, and apply appropriate levels of effort to identified clients. Partner with client account leads to understand, promote, and market Wilson & Company’s technical offerings. Continuously shape and effectively position Wilson & Company to increase opportunities with identified clients while maintaining high-quality relationships. Collaborate with the client account management team to support the company’s strategic objectives. Ensure the use of Vantagepoint and other tools to store applicable data.
- Team leadership and development: Mentor and guide the capture and client account management teams. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Help develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and capabilities.
- Reporting and analysis: Monitor and report on the performance of strategic pursuits and client accounts. Use key performance indicators to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or related major, plus 10 years of experience within the firm or in a similar technical/marketing environment. Without a degree, 15 years of relevant experience is required in addition to appropriate knowledge and skills leading proposals in the industry.
- Complete understanding of the pursuit lifecycle and demonstrated success in leading large-scale pursuits and winning significant projects. Strong understanding of the A&E market, trends, and client needs. Has excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills and a strong command of the English language. Requires the ability to think strategically, solve problems, and collaboratively lead cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for proposal preparation. Ability to write, edit and proofread moderately complex materials and apply standard brand guidelines.
- Work involves knowledgeable application of quality control and standard procedures and criteria to coordinate proposals of critical importance to the firm.
- Exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment regarding content, wording, completeness, correctness, and appropriateness of proposal contents and graphics materials, making recommendations directly to the pursuit team. Makes sound decisions but also works with supervisor and other stakeholders (e.g., executive sponsor, pursuit coach, client manager, capture lead, PM) to gain buy-in.
- May supervise and/or mentor marketing assistants and/or less experienced proposal coordinators. Gives work direction to graphic artists and marketing assistants involved in proposal production.
- Regularly interfaces with marketing staff, project managers, capture managers, and technical staff.
- May contact clients, subconsultants, and vendors to verify, obtain, and coordinate information. May attend client prepositioning, debrief, and other meetings.
