Library Shelver

The Library is seeking a shelver who will be responsible for sorting, shelving and filing various library materials according to library classification systems (alphabetic, numeric, and alphanumeric) and for maintaining orderliness in the Library. ?Customer service shall be provided as needed, such as giving directions to areas of the library and helping patrons search for desired materials. 

Shelvers advance the mission of the Library by performing manual and clerical duties including keeping uniform and tidy shelves; reading shelves for accuracy and re-shelving misplaced items; maintaining the neat and orderly appearance of work and public areas; locating and retrieving library materials for library staff or library users; restocking displays; and performing other related work as required. ? ? 

Library shelvers are expected to demonstrate superior customer service, integrity, efficiency and commitment to innovation, to maintain regular and reliable attendance, and to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. ?May use computerized library system equipment to perform assigned tasks. 

The minimum qualifications for this position are demonstrated ability to read and the ability to file alphabetically and numerically.
