Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluation, planning, directing, and administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment. Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a refering physician for patients suffering from injuries, muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relative pain, and prevent disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning. The therapist coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff. The therapist participates in operations aspects of the department. Ensures that patient changes are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all infection control, department equipment training, organizational safety and fire programs.
Education / Experience
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of cupational therapy and eligible for licensure with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
Licensure / Certification
Must have current license, certification or registration with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
Functions
Directs patient care by performing the duties of occupational therapist.
Supervises and assures that plans of care are implemented and carried out and all appropriate documentation is completed.
Communicates with physicians, other departmental staff, patients, and family members regarding patient progress, problems and plan.
Instructs patient, family members or other caregivers in therapeutic procedures and / or exercises to be continued upon discharge.
Assists in the referral process when additional sorvices are required.
Provides practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, homemaking skills, and activities of daily living.
Consults with other members of rehabiltation team to select activity program sonsitent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate therapy with other therapeutic activities.
Assumes additional responsiblities, duties and projects as requested or assigned.
