Family Resource Center Parent and Family Educator
JOB GOAL
Plays a crucial role in providing support and resources to parents and families within the community. This position involves offering services, guidance, and assistance to parents and families in need, empowering them to overcome challenges and improve their well-being. The FRC Parent and Family Educator works with district personnel and community partners, advocates for family needs and family/school connections, and assists families with essential services and basic needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as a liaison among the home, school, and community;

- Houses parenting materials for workshops;
- Attends and conducts workshops for parents, teachers, and community, as well as with other district personnel as time permits;
- Communicates with donors, volunteers, media, and the schools;
- Strives to meet the goal of prevention and a proactive mindset for parenting classes and engagement programs;
- Makes home visits per district guidelines;
- Provides training, guidance and assistance for teachers and classified staff on topics such as family engagement, building home/school connections, and other topics based on district needs;
- Assists teachers with parent involvement as needed;
- Maintains monthly log of dates, times, and involvement activities;
- Participates in planning and implementation of parent workshops;
- Assists in planning and facilitation of Family Advisory Council meetings;
- Gathers ideas and research relating to family/parent involvement to share or distribute to schools and families throughout the year;
- Attends conferences/staff development sessions for professional growth;
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
- Organizes Family Resource Center donations;
- Packs and delivers food boxes and basic needs to families and schools as needed;
- Assists Family Resource Center Coordinator in completion of state reports and the documentation and recording of Family Resource Center data;
- Actively participates in truancy board and community groups that support families and the school district; and
- Other duties as assigned.
