What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Interpreter and Family Liaison position at Wilson County Schools, TN?
Qualified applicant should hold minimum of high school or general equivalency diploma. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience in a school setting and a minimum of three (3) years prior experience in translation/interpretation is preferred.
Other requirements/qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Fluency in English and a proficiency in Spanish is required.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak Spanish.
- Must be able to translate orally from Spanish to English, and vice versa.
The successful candidate will facilitate effective communication between families, educators, and administration within Wilson County Schools.
The primary role of this position is to provide interpretation services during registration, Special Education meetings including Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, parent phone calls or emails, screening for Limited English Proficiency, and various family engagement activities. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for translating documents related to administration, district-wide incentives, family engagement programs, and other pertinent materials.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring that language barriers do not hinder the educational experience of students and families. The Interpreter and Family Liaison will work under the guidance of the ESL Coordinator.
This is a full-time, 220-day position based at the WCS Administrative & Training Complex. Exact work days/hours will be set by the ESL Coordinator. The pay rate will be $26.53 per hour.
