SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager is a dynamic and forward-thinking leader who will lead a team of 12 manufacturing engineers and CI representatives, and drive both tactical and strategic initiatives within our manufacturing operations. This role is pivotal in developing long-term engineering strategies, optimizing processes, and aligning technology investments to achieve business goals. The ideal candidate will be willing to work alongside our leaders and employees on the manufacturing floor, drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, product innovation, and cross-functional collaboration to position the company for sustainable growth and industry leadership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
- Develop and execute a long-term strategy for manufacturing engineering and continuous Improvement to support business growth, product innovation, and operational excellence.
- Lead the identification and integration of emerging manufacturing technologies, including automation and digital manufacturing (Industry 4.0).
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align manufacturing engineering objectives with overall company goals, focusing on efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Project management leadership including proposals, research, and implementation.
- Forecast future engineering and continuous improvement needs and develop plans for equipment investments, resource allocation, and workforce development.
- OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE & PROCESS INNOVATION
- Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems to achieve cost-effective production with high quality and safety standards.
- Develop and standardize best practices across all production lines, implementing lean manufacturing techniques.
- Collaborate with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Manufacturing to launch new products to market.
- Drive initiatives to reduce cycle times, improve throughput, and enhance product delivery timelines.
- Lead efforts to minimize waste, reduce costs, and improve sustainability across operations.
- TECHNOLOGY & AUTOMATION
- Assess and recommend advanced technologies for process automation, robotics, and smart manufacturing to maintain a competitive edge.
- Lead capital investment projects, ensuring effective project management and ROI realization.
- Build a technology roadmap that balances innovation, scalability, and cost control.
- TEAM DEVELOPMENT & COLLABORATION
- Teach, mentor and lead a team of approximately 12 manufacturing engineers and continuous improvement representatives, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Develop workforce skills aligned with future technological needs, ensuring the team remains agile and future-ready.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration between engineering, production, toolroom, R&D and supply chain to streamline workflows and enhance communication.
- Create a career path for engineers in training and show them how to grow in skills, abilities and leadership.
- PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT & METRICS
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure productivity, efficiency, and quality improvements.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends and develop strategic action plans to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
- Report on manufacturing performance and strategic initiatives to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations.
