Position Title: Warehouse Supervisor
Reports To: Assistant Operations Manager - Operations
Status: Exempt

Job Summary

Coordinate daily warehouse activities by supervising warehousemen working individually or in crews as they receive, store, and ship client product in a manner consistent with Company service and cost objectives ensuring that accurate records and communications with the customer service office are maintained while Company procedures, polices, work rules, and safety/quality standards are followed.

Special Qualifications, Education or Licenses:

Minimum educational requirements from an accredited college or university include:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, and/or
  • Equivalent Experience and Skills in a Related Industry.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write legibly.
  • Ability to count and perform simple mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move back and forth frequently during the day between work environments that range in temperature from below freezing to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, are often dusty and noisy, can be wet or dry, as well as indoor or outdoor.
  • Ability to drive in any kind of weather, including rainstorms, hail, and windy conditions.
  • Ability to communicate using a Company cellular telephone and/or Company radio.
  • Ability to lift 75 pound boxes and bags on an occasional basis, having full range of motion in back, neck and shoulders, including ability to squat, stoop or climb ladders.
  • Ability to step up or down 30 inches in order to mount or dismount a forklift.
  • Ability to hear sufficiently to recognize in a noisy environment with poor acoustics, a shouted voice or the sound of an approaching forklift.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with warehousemen, internal and external customers and suppliers, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, full ear protection, safety shoes, dust masks, and respirators.
  • Ability to be flexible and remain courteous and professional while working efficiently with other supervisors, warehousemen, customers, and with customer service representatives, managing the stress of meeting deadlines and achieving production goals, dealing with interruptions, interference, lack of cooperation, and/or customer errors.
  • Ability to pay attention to the details, formulate procedures, produce accurate and timely results, and maintain concentration on the task at hand, while juggling multiple assignments, ignoring distractions and noise from other workers nearby.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal, computer printer, typewriter, calculator, facsimile machine, copier, and telephone.
  • Ability to move freely about an office to access materials and use equipment.
  • Ability to perform correctly from memory and create complicated procedures after a suitable period of training.
  • Ability to maintain stamina and productivity throughout the work day. Must be able to report early enough to be ready to manage workforce at the time warehouse personnel start their shift, and will occasionally find it necessary to work overtime and at night in order to complete duties.
  • Ability to work or be on call from time to time on weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Absenteeism, tardiness, and the inability to complete an entire shift are grave and unacceptable disruptions to our Company’s ability to service our customers.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain interpersonal contacts, including with people who may be hostile or impatient, and respond in a positive and professional manner to feedback from customers and coworkers alike.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of or leader of a team.
  • Ability to lead and develop warehouse staff.
  • Ability to chair a meeting or teach a class.
  • Ability to reason, remember, and observe in order to troubleshoot and recommend and report to management on space utilization and other needs.

Job Responsibilities:

Daily Duties:

  • Contact Customer Service Representative (CSR) throughout day for inbound and outbound shipments and transport shipment orders to appropriate warehouse(s).
  • Monitor workload progress and reassign warehousemen as needed.
  • Check every order for accuracy/quality issues and take corrective action as needed.
  • Complete Tracking Sheet (Outbound)
  • Turn in Receiving Reports (Inbound) and Completed Backups to appropriate CSR.
  • Ensure warehouse facilities and equipment are safe, clean, and working properly. Report unsafe conditions to management.
  • Enforce safety/work rules, initiating disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Match warehousemen time cards to activity sheets to ensure complete and accurate information is turned into the Payroll Office each day on activity sheets.
  • Identify work done outside of customer’s contractual agreement, collecting and reporting activity timely and accurately so customer can be invoiced properly.

Weekly Duties:

  • Prepare and communicate work schedules to warehousemen.
  • Submit warehousemen time cards to Payroll Office by 10 a.m. each Monday.
  • Submit warehousemen vacation and leave requests to Payroll with time cards.
  • Monthly Duties:
  • Schedule and conduct Safety Awareness Meeting with warehouse staff.
  • Complete and turn in documents to support safety training.
  • Conduct and document inspections of warehouse facilities and safety activities.
  • Attend monthly meeting of the Company’s Safety Committee.
  • Maintain and submit Company truck gas usage log.

Quarterly Duties:

  • Review time and attendance records for warehouse staff and recommend discipline when necessary.
  • Prepare and conduct performance evaluations on warehouse staff.
  • Participate in Department Communications Meeting with ISO Coordinator.

Other Duties:

  • Participate in Company’s annual physical inventory count.
  • Apply leadership skills to develop warehousemen by communicating expectations clearly, keeping staff informed and trained, coaching and counseling when appropriate, and providing a fair measure of encouragement, support, and discipline.
  • Enter compliance items, non-compliances, and acknowledge good performance in CIS Quality System on a regular basis.
  • Report and investigate all accidents and near misses (no matter how minor), interview witnesses, recommend corrective action and discipline, and re-train when appropriate.
  • Oversee client visits and outside contractor work.
  • Respond timely to internal and external customer inquiries.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external customers keeping lines of communication open and sharing feedback with management, including reporting signs of customer dissatisfaction.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Union’s collective bargaining agreement and ensure compliance to procedures and provisions included therein.
  • Periodically attend local and regional warehouse association meetings and training as requested by management.
  • Meet or exceed production goals while upholding the Company’s “Every Order Perfect” philosophy and ensuring “Zero Defects” in support of our Quality Program.
  • Perform others duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Night Shift Hours: 12 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
