Job Summary
The Food Pantry Coordinator plays a vital role in managing the operations of the food pantry, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently. This position involves overseeing food distribution and maintaining a welcoming environment for clients. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a passion for community service, as well as experience in food service or pantry operations.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the food pantry, including food inventory management and distribution processes.
- Coordinate scheduling and training of volunteers to ensure effective service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of food donations, distributions, and inventory levels.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff and volunteers on best practices in food handling and customer service.
- Foster relationships with local food suppliers, community organizations, and stakeholders to enhance pantry resources.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to food storage and preparation.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients visiting the pantry, addressing their needs with empathy and respect.
- Organize community outreach events to raise awareness about the food pantry services available.
- Managing onsite patron food orders and arrivals. This involves being outdoors during open hours in all weather conditions. The Assistant Director is the principal contact point between patrons and the Pantry,
- Ensure physical set up for the food distribution process,
- Managing volunteers,
- Closing the shift following established protocols
- Monitor inventory levels and order from the Food Bank
- Update online order menu for patrons twice weekly.
- Ensure supplies are available for Special programs such as Senior Citizen Delivery, Summer Supplement Bags for School Aged Children, and Thanksgiving Meal.
- Maintain regular cleaning operations. Ensure that Food bank safe food handling rules are followed.
Skills
- Strong cash handling skills for managing donations and transactions effectively.
- Experience in quick service fast food restaurant environments is beneficial for understanding efficient service delivery.
- Proven ability in training development to enhance volunteer effectiveness.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, including banquet-style serving methods.
- Excellent team management skills to lead a diverse group of volunteers effectively.
- Experience in shift management to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Strong leadership qualities to inspire and motivate team members towards a common goal.
- Exceptional customer service skills to create a positive experience for all clients visiting the pantry.
- Ability to conduct staff training sessions on operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of product.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
