Position Summary
The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team is responsible for the process, coordination, understanding, and reporting of financial results to senior management and rating agencies to support the Company’s strategic goals and decision-making processes.
This role in FP&A needs to have a strong foundation of US Statutory and GAAP life insurance and annuities financial reporting knowledge, advanced analytical capabilities, ability to collaborate across departments and with external parties, and ability to communicate financial results effectively. S/he will help develop insights that enable leadership to make effective and data-driven decisions with broad impact across the organization.

Base salary/hourly rate range for this position in Connecticut is between $110,000 and $ 150,000. Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training, and experience.
Base salary is just one component of Wilton Re’s total compensation package for employees. Additional compensation includes annual performance-based bonus, 401K with employer contribution, and profit-sharing program. Employee may also be eligible for long-term incentives (equity). All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.

Role Responsibilities
- Prepare and present quarterly actual to expected variance analysis for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, board of directors, and rating agencies. Results reported should provide insights into the company’s financial performance by block of business, asset class, risk type (e.g., mortality/longevity and morbidity), capital position, and risk profile.
- Participate in developing enterprise annual overhead budgets; prepare and present quarterly actual to budget financial results
- Perform distributable earnings analysis and support the Embedded Value team with experience variance analysis.
- Partner with others across the Company, such as the investment and actuarial teams, to understand and validate actual and expected results and variances. Results include investments, underwriting, expenses, and required and target capital.
- Assist in ad hoc financial modeling, providing clear financial insights that help management gauge trade-offs and implications of different strategic alternatives.
- Develop new dashboards to enhance flash reporting capabilities.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that drive operating leverage within the FP&A team and across the Company.
- Drive enhancements to and adoption of financial planning software.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
- Over 8 years of Life (Re)insurance financial analysis and/or reporting.
- Strong knowledge of life insurance accounting principles (US Statutory and GAAP), investment income, products, and profitability drivers; familiarity with operating expenses a plus.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and forecasting.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Advanced Excel skills, data analytics / BI software (e.g., MS Power BI, Tableau) experience, and Workiva experience are highly valued.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with great attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to fast changing priorities and innovative solutioning, manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to build relationships and drive collaboration with multiple teams across the organization.
- BS or BA in Finance, Accountancy, or Data Analytics preferred.
- Candidate with relevant certification (e.g., CPA or MBA) a plus.
