What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Software Developer position at WIN Waste Innovations?
As a Lead Software Developer at WIN Waste, you'll join a team of developers designing and building the future state data ecosystem. This role will be responsible for supporting our existing systems and converting processes to Azure, ensuring our data pipelines are performant and meet our service level standards. The nature of work will include design, development, enhancements of existing systems, troubleshooting for root cause analysis and development work to transition our legacy data stores.
Further, you will be supporting a team of software engineers, guiding the technical direction of projects, ensuring coding standards are met, mentoring other developers, and making key decisions regarding architecture, tools, and technologies used throughout the development process.
What You'll Do...
- Develop creative, technical solutions to solve business problems
- Own the design, build, and implementation of Azure Data Factory pipelines to increase efficiency and performance of application integrations
- Develop and maintain data ingestion and integration (SSIS/ADF) processes with a focus on data quality and monitoring
- Design and develop software architecture
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and frameworks
- Set coding standards and best practices
- Incorporate standards and best practices into engineering solutions
- Manage code versions in source control (Azure DevOps/ Github)
- Lead code reviews for the development team
- Guide the team on technical decision-making
- Provide mentorship and coaching to other developers
- Monitor team performance and identify areas for improvement
- Facilitate collaboration between team members and cross-functional teams
- Participate in design discussions and technical reviews
- Drive technical projects to completion from inception to production implementation including prod support transition
- Maintain existing systems using: Azure Data Factory Pipelines, VB.Net (some C#), SSIS, MS SQL Server, Integrated Excel Reports, various CSV/XML integrations
- Will manage and lead technical projects communicating with IT management.
- Partner with enterprise teams, data analysts and architects to support the development of standards and solutions
Who You Are...
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other technical area
- 10 years of experience as a software engineer
- Strong programming skills: Proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks used by the team; Microsoft/Azure Stack - SSIS, SQL, Azure Data Factory, ADO, Github, SFTP, Python, Power Apps, Function Apps
- Software design principles: Understanding of software architecture patterns and best practices
- Leadership abilities: Ability to motivate and guide a team
- Communication skills: Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges
- Strong computer science fundamentals: SDLC methodologies, CICD, programming languages, data structures
