POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the physicians and physician assistants with the examination and treatment of patients, along with performing tasks to keep the clinical office running smoothly.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets patients and escorts them to the examination rooms.
- Takes vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, respirations) as well as height/weight and accurately records results in patient’s chart.
- Records all of the patient’s current medications in the appropriate section of the chart – to be updated each visit.
- Performs electrocardiogram per protocol.
- Brief review of interim history pertinent to physician seeing patient.
- Notify physician of any significant health changes or hospitalizations.
- Obtain any necessary reports, hospital records, etc. to assist in patient care.
- Reviews and assists in completion of forms required by physician prior to examination (e.g., health questionnaire, health history, etc.).
- Notifies provider when patient is ready for examination.
- Assists physician with examinations and procedures as needed.
- Answers telephone and acts as a patient relations representative for the practice by taking care of the needs of the caller within the scope of his/her knowledge and practices standards.
- Schedules patient’s appointments, tests and referrals according to practice standards.
- Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Monitor, order and stock clinical supplies.
- Maintain clean and orderly exam rooms.
- Informs the provider of acute or significant changes in the patient’s condition or symptomatology and provides follow up care as directed.
- Organizes and prepares the charts for clinic.
- Performs other tasks or services deemed necessary by the physician or administrator.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current licensure as a CNA/CMA
- Basic Life Support / CPR card within 90 days of employment.
- At least one year of medical office, clinic or other healthcare setting experience preferred.
- Comfort with use EKG machine, sphygmomanometer and basic clinical tools.
- Physical lifting up to 50lbs.
- Ability to make a great first impression and sustain it; employ tact, diplomacy and compassion with all types of people; maintain cooperative relationships with staff members, patients and physicians; prioritize duties appropriately, maintain privacy with information according to HIPAA guidelines; perform functions with accuracy and integrity.
