Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Patient Access Specialist plays a vital role in providing a welcoming and efficient experience for patients by managing incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and facilitating access to healthcare services. This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered service. The specialist will also coordinate scheduling, maintain accurate records, and assist with front desk operations as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming patient calls, ensuring all inquiries are addressed in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner.
- Accurately document patient registration and insurance information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, tests, and referrals according to established protocols and patient needs.
- Ensure efficient coordination of patient communication by relaying messages accurately between patients, providers, and clinical staff.
- Assist in verifying insurance coverage and providing patients with necessary financial information related to their care.
- Use office technology, including electronic health records (EHR) systems, telephones, fax machines, and email, to facilitate smooth operations.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance workflow efficiency and optimize patient access to care.
- Provides backup support to front desk and scheduling staff as needed.
- Assist with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and processing patient documents.
- Proactively identify and communicate operational challenges or patient concerns to the Front Desk Manager.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall efficiency of the healthcare facility.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to providing inclusive, patient-centered service.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and administrative procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency in using computers, scheduling systems, and office equipment.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
