Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our growing team. The Scribe plays a critical role in supporting physicians by ensuring accurate and complete documentation of patient visits. This position is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our clinical office, allowing physicians to focus on patient care while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and efficiency.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals new to healthcare who are looking to gain valuable hands-on experience working closely with physicians in a fast-paced medical environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Medical Scribe Duties
- Accompany the physician into the patient examination room to transcribe history and physical exams, accurately documenting physician-patient encounters.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, and procedures.
- Document diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
- Prepare office notes/templates for upcoming patient appointments.
- Review test results and update electronic medical records with the latest patient information.
- Obtain and organize necessary reports, hospital records, and other documentation to assist in patient care.
Clinical Support Responsibilities (As Needed)
- Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms.
- Record vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, respirations, height, and weight) in the electronic medical record.
- Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) according to protocol.
- Conduct a brief review of interim history relevant to the physician’s evaluation.
- Notify the physician of significant health changes or hospitalizations.
- Assist in completing forms required by the physician before examinations (e.g., health questionnaires, medical history forms).
- Ensure the physician is informed when the patient is ready for the exam.
- Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Monitor, order, and stock clinical supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized exam room environment.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Typing proficiency of 55 words per minute.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations.
- Strong proficiency in computer usage, Microsoft Office Applications, telephone, fax, and other office systems.
- Comfortable using EKG machines, sphygmomanometers, and basic clinical tools.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy per HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
