Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in school counseling, or a related field
- DESE Licensure: School Counselor 5-12
- Well developed social and emotional skills; ability to collaborate, communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with numerous stakeholders
- Ability to use evidence-based practices to develop students’ social and emotional skills and support mental health wellness
- Familiarity with postgraduate planning and application process
- Experience adjusting student schedules, which includes placement of students in appropriate classes to ensure college and career readiness; ability to analyze transcripts to allow access and opportunity to every student.
- Understanding of Section 504 federal law & experience facilitating the process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Dual licensure School Counseling 5-12 and School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor
- Prior experience developing and transmitting post-secondary documentation via Naviance or similar system.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Provide counseling to students to support the development of their social, emotional and academic skills, mental health wellness and postgraduate planning needs.
- Provide individual and group counseling support and group learning opportunities to students.
- Consult with, collaborate and share expertise with counseling colleagues, teachers, administrators, families and related-service providers to meet students’ needs.
- Coordinate and oversee the 504 process for students on your caseload
- Collaborate with the special education around the initial and re-evaluation process
- Collect, maintain, and present data when applicable.
- Develop letters of recommendation for students on your caseload.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings.
- Provide resources and learning opportunities to families and guardians to support student learning, wellness and postgraduate preparation.
- Participate in professional development to remain current with school counseling and evidence-based practices
- Utilize relevant information and professional judgment in determining whether events or processes comply with laws, regulation and standards
- Consistent and on-time attendance is required
- Responsible for implementing “other job related duties” as directed.
