What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner - Neurology at Winchester Medical Center position at Winchester Neurological Consultants?
Winchester Neurological Consultants, Inc. has been serving the Winchester community for over 50 years and have establish a wide-spread network of care and a partnership with Valley Health allowing us to care for patients in a private practice setting and at various hospitals within their medical system.
We are seeking providers who are dedicated to delivering quality care, patient education, and a passion for neurology. You will work as part of a care team under the on call physician primarily comprised of rounds, consults, and code stroke. Job duties include:
· Independently perform comprehensive physical assessments
· Independently establishes diagnoses for common short-term health problems and chronic, long-term health problems.
· Independently orders, performs, and/or interprets laboratory data and diagnostic procedures.
· Prescribes drugs according to an approved formulary established by the Board of Medicine in the State of Virginia.
· Code Stroke with physician assistance.
· Counsel patients on such issues including, but not limited to, medication administration, health risk and stress reduction, diet, exercise, psycho-socio-economic health problems.
· Refer patients to physicians within the practice and other health care providers, health educators, as well as other resources and services within the broader community as necessary.
· Provide initial emergency assessment and care until physician assistance is available.
· Document effectively and in a timely manner.
· Participate in practice-based research.
· Attend community charity events, networking events, research surveys, company meetings, in-services, etc.
· Assist in the development of online patient education to include writing blogs, recording videos for our website, and other promotional/education opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master's level Family Nurse Practitioner degree from accredited learning institution and active Virginia license.
- DEA license must be active and in good standing
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider Basic Lifesaving (BLS) certificate

Pay: $114,000.00 - $122,000.00 per year
