POSITION OVERVIEW
To provide oversight to the Extended School Year program (Special Education summer program) serving students whose Individual Education Program (IEP) requires a longer school year to maintain skills and to prevent substantial regression of skills.
ESY Program Dates and Times: July 7, 2025 - August 7, 2025, 8:30 am-11:30 am, Mondays - Thursdays
Position reports to the Director of Special Education.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To organize and oversee the Winchester Extended School Year program (ESY) for students who qualify through the Special Education process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Organization of all aspects in ESY starting in March 2025
- Must be present at assigned sites when ESY is in operation: daily onsite supervision of ESY operations and management (student and staff attendance, parent communication, discipline, transportation, staffing, IEP support, data management, etc)
- Expected to be available directly before and after program hours to support staff and families
- Hiring of ESY staff - special educators, educational support professionals, and related service staff
- Collaborate and consult with Supervisors of Special Education as to scope of individual learner’s plans and needs prior to May 2nd
- Coordination of specialized equipment and materials needed, as per IEP
- Determining students who will be attending as per IEP and providing communications to families of all aspects of ESY
- Scheduling of students for all necessary programs/services
- Coordination and oversight of all programs and related services
- Supervision of ESY staff
- Coordination of transportation
- Collecting and returning progress summaries/materials to the home school
- Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education
QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:
- Administrative experience preferred
- Possession of MA DESE Moderate Disabilities Licensure and/or Administrator of Special Education preferred
