MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER (3 Vacancies)
Winchester School in Winchester, NH is a caring and compassionate K-8 school designing and delivering innovative instructional experiences for all of its 320 students. The Winchester School teacher is a professional educator who believes that no matter where students begin their learning journey, all can accomplish significant growth and development through a structured, engaging, and rigorous course of study. The middle school teacher is compassionate and empathetic toward the life needs of adolescent learners from our community, all while adhering to the core mission of building the needed academic, civic, and social skills that will help them excel in their path towards high school and beyond. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
~ Assist in the development of a school culture that believes all students can and will achieve at high levels;
~ Commits to the concept of teaching as a professional practice and the requirement to pursue additional learning opportunities to
advance it;
~ Increases and exercises knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and WSD curriculum and policies.
~ Demonstrates the ability to learn and use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies appropriate to the needs
of middle school adolescents, and techniques integrating reading, writing, math, and technology throughout the content areas.
~ Practices the ability to self-reflect on instructional practices and personal interactions for continuous improvement.
~ Maintains the ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and
community demonstrating organizational agility.
~ Communicates and collaborates with middle school students, staff, parents, and community.
~ Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students.
~ Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and practices including the PLC structure, and uses data analysis to
monitor student achievement.
~ Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
~ Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
~ Models a commitment to young adolescents serving as an advocate, a role model, and a supporter of diversity (e.g., race, ethnicity,
gender, developmental differences, learning styles, and exceptionalities).
~ Knowledge and application of the indicators of success that have been established for the Winchester School District (WSD)
Professional Development Master Plan (PDMP), and the three professional contributory areas of Environment, Practice, and
Content as established in the Professional Development Master Plan (PDMP).
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
