Overview

Under general direction of Manager of Space Management and/or Senior Space Planning Analyst, creates and implements Store Design and Planning processes to maximize store space, merchandising allocation, layout and productivity.  Support Space Management and Engineering programs through design, production, documentation, communication and quality control on all store projects. 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Combine merchandising, financial and category management data with architectural store layouts.
• Analyze space-to-performance ratios to reach the optimal return on valuable retail space.
• Reduce store planning time by creating accurate and actionable floor plans for concepts, remodels, and new stores.
• Improve communication throughout the entire chain, from the headquarters to the stores.
• Ensure brand consistency in store designs.
• Increase sales through improved focus on the consumer.
• Work directly with the Space Planning, Engineering, and Construction teams to meet store growth objectives.
• Coordinates with divisional, departmental, and senior VP’s to achieve plan sign off.
• Maintains integrity of all WinCo StorePlanHQ merchandising plans
• Review construction documents
• Source new fixtures and concepts for all departments to meet their needs and those of the company while staying on top of current innovation.
• Maintains Store Planning Department SharePoint site and communications.
• Obtains fixture quotes for merchandising “rollouts” and or special projects.
• Maintains fixture library, floor plan information fields, and store information database.
• Manipulate current AutoCAD drawings as needed.
• Follow-up on potential issues, delays, and incidents that effect remodels and new stores regarding merchandising.
• Pro-actively work with internal and external merchandising teams to meet project deadlines.
• Works directly with space planning team on strategies to increase merchandise turns and profit while maximizing selling space utilizing Macro Space optimization.
• Coordinate with Space Analysts on resets and fixture needs for projects.
• Coordinate installation of shelves and image strips for new stores and remodels.
• On site surveys of current stores to ensure accuracy of plans and for potential changes.
• On site delivery verification of fixture orders (new/remodel stores).
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising or related field OR equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:

• At least three (2) years combined training and working responsibility with Space planning/Store Planning software.
• At least two (2) years in retail management or merchandising position.
• Demonstrating proficiency in AS400, MS Office, MS Power point, and MS Project.
• Working knowledge of store design including store set up, fixture plans, including fixture installation.
• Experience with Architectural practices and design standards.
• Demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of internal and external team members and customers.
• Demonstrating ability to prioritize in a fast paced multi-tasked environment.
• Merchandising in a variety of different retail settings, specifically how planograms are used at the store level and how store sets/resets are conducted with responsibility exhibiting a strong understanding of financial calculations.
• Demonstrating an understanding of relational databases and knowledge of IKB functionality.

Ability to:

• Operate AUTOCAD design systems.
• Present ideas utilizing multiple presentation formats.
• Absorb and reflect on drawings, ever-evolving operating systems and store design standards.
• Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees, outside contacts, user groups and vendors.
• Write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings.
• Respectfully challenge standard practices to identify improved practices and processes.
• Travel occasionally to job sites throughout the company including current and future locations, approximately 20%.
• Work graveyard / overnight and weekend schedules as required depending on project needs.
• Obtain necessary certification to safely and efficiently operate required equipment including powered industrial forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, bend at waist and twist upper body frequently, repetitive use of hands continually.

Additional Requirements:

• Acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles driving record.

Machines and Equipment Operated:

• Office machines (computer terminal, copier/scanner, 10-key, fax machine, telephone, etc)
• Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack, Push Carts

Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:

• Blue Yonder/JDA Floor Planning certification
• AutoCAD certification
