Job Title: Yard Jockey

Job Purpose:
The Yard Jockey is responsible for supporting the production and assembly of windows and entry door products by safely operating a spotter truck to move trailers around the yard. This role requires flexibility in tasks, strong communication skills, and a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trailer Movement: Operate spotter truck to move trailers to and from loading docks.
- Task Rotation: Learn and rotate between various positions on the production floor, depending on business needs.
- Safety & Equipment Handling: Safely work with moving equipment and follow all safety guidelines. Use hand tools and machinery as required.
- Communication: Maintain clear, respectful communication with team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Productivity: Work efficiently to meet production goals while adhering to quality standards and safety procedures.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on equipment and ensure the work area is kept clean and organized.
- Quality Control: Inspect products for defects and ensure the products meet company standards.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience is preferred.
- Current CDL required.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Familiarity with using hand tools, measurement devices, and operating machinery.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs at waist level and 15 lbs at shoulder level occasionally.
- Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 12 hours per day.
- Coordination: Requires strong eye-hand coordination for handling products safely.
- Other: Must be able to push, pull, and handle products as required. Occasional bending, stooping, or squatting may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Exposure to high temperatures and humidity.
- PPE: Required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
- Noise: Hearing protection required in certain areas of the yard.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a drug screen and pre-employment tests.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mandatory overtime when needed.
