Job Location: Metuchen, NJ ( not remote role )
Reports To: Plant Manager
Job Summary:
Responsible for the manufacturing operations of an assigned shift by assigning work and providing hands-on supervision while following directives, policies and procedures of the company.
Functions:
Experience – Three-Five years of supervision in a manufacturing environment plus hand on often overlaps with experience operating extruder machines or other related manufacturing equipment.
Skills – Mechanical aptitude; computer literate (preferably using Excel, Microsoft Office and PayCor), good verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, write and speak English; have good problem solving and organizational skills; Able to obtain a forklift certification and Authorized in LOTO

Job Summary:
Responsible for the manufacturing operations of an assigned shift by assigning work and providing hands-on supervision while following directives, policies and procedures of the company.
Functions:
- Coordinate the inspection, preventive, breakdown maintenance and corrective maintenance of all plant mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance department personnel adhere to all applicable department and plant safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor the department employees and ensure competence by initiating training, coaching, counseling or discipline to respond to items identified in the employee’s performance.
- Cooperates with Quality Control Department to ensure the quality of product being produced falls within set standards and the Food Safety Plan. Takes action to isolate any product that is unacceptable and places in appropriate area for further evaluation or disposal.
- Oversee the plant preventive maintenance program to ensure effectiveness on minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Develop specifications for production equipment; assist in the selection, purchase, and installation of the equipment in the plant.
- Willingness to work unusual hours, including weekends or nights in emergency situations.
- Coordinate with the production-scheduling department on the scheduling of down time for repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Manage the production department to ensure production goals are met in a safe environment.
- Oversee maintenance and manufacturing budgets to include labor cost.
- Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report any and all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.
- Responsible for control and monitoring attendance and punctuality of entire straw department.
- Ensures that all personnel are aware of the need to report all food safety problems to their immediate Supervisor or a member of Management as soon as problem is detected.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or members of management.
- Receive a “pass” on a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background
- Work 8 to 12 hour shift while standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, grasping and lifting throughout the entire shift.
- Requires the manual movement of repair parts and tools that may weight up to 50 pounds.
- Working in-doors in a manufacturing environment that is not air-conditioned.
- Wear PPE while working which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or Engineering Technology or Industrial Management a plus
- Experience: Five- Seven years of supervision in a food and or beverage grade-manufacturing environment.
- Three years in a maintenance supervisor role within a non-union environment, strong Project Management, strong technical knowledge in maintenance trades, equipment design and function.
