POSITION/TITLE: Pre-Expander-PEO III
WORK LOCATION: Tolleson Arizona
POSITION REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor
WORK TYPE: ON SITE
JOB SUMMARY:
The Pre-Expander Operator is responsible for correct processing of the raw bead material. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of the beads going to the machine room by following the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and quality standards. Specific
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must follow safety guidelines and qualify under LOTO procedures for responsible equipment
- Must follow all, GMP, HACCP and Safe Quality Food guidelines at all times.
- Wear required PPE when working in the production area.
- Must observe high standards of personal hygiene
- Maintains all of the pre-expander equipment in top working order by regularly cleaning piping, cleaning augers and reporting any water, steam, or air leaks to Maintenance.
- Communicates with the outgoing and incoming pre-expander operator on the status of operations to ensure proper coordination in a smooth transition between shifts.
- Reviews the status of the bead supply levels and quality with the Shift Supervisor or Lead.
- Monitors process hourly (and as needed) to maintain bead density and tracks using a range chart. Adjusts process as needed.
- Performs the established bead weight checks in a timely manner and adjusts the process accordingly to ensure the cups produced are within established weight standards.
- Keeps the floor free of beads, especially raw beads. Cleans in and around expander room and screener room. This also includes the aging room above the screeners.
- Completes all reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Inspects all safety equipment and related devices in pre-expansion and area and reports any problems to the Shift Supervisor.
- Participates in the training of new employees.
- Successfully completes any added assignments and or section projects assigned by the shift Supervisor.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
REQUIRED EXPEREINCE/SKILLS:
- Problem Solving/ Analysis
- Technical Capacity
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)

- Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):
The characteristics listed below are representative of the work environment typically encountered by an individual while performing the essential duties of a position in our manufacturing plants. Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so these work environment details may not always apply, they should still be noted.
- Work space is one that contains moving mechanical parts.
- Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.
- Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
- Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
- Ability to work an 8 , 10 or 12 hour shifts as designated.
- Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
