Job Position: Director of Procurement
Department: Supply Chain
Supervisor’s Title: Vice President of Supply Chain
Job Summary:
The Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and sustaining strategic vendor partnerships, vendor RFPs, contract/lease negotiation and execution, cost improvements, raw materials budgeting, and raw materials inventory product data/change management and stock model parameters. This position serves as the liaison between vendors, plants and WinCup Shared Services partners. This position must leverage technology and processes to manage the company’s raw materials stock model parameters utilizing ERP solutions. This role is responsible for implementing procurement strategies, managing suppliers and contracts to optimize procurement processes ensuring overall cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Establish a robust purchasing strategy in line with WinCup’s manufacturing and sustainability footprint and growth strategy.
- Research market intelligence & make strategic recommendations for purchasing raw materials, Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) and Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) items.
- Develop and execute commodity Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and sourcing strategies that minimize risk to WinCup. Manage vendor negotiations, pricing, quality and supply profiles (Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ), lead-time, etc.).
- Manage supplier stakeholders, including Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), compliance and supplier performance. Collaborate with Finance Team on terms. Develop supplier diversity, continuous improvement programs, risk mitigation and cost savings strategies.
- Ensure Procure-to-Pay processes are efficient and in compliance. Evaluate current Standard Operating Procedures/Processes (SOP’s) and drive continuous improvement. Actively participate in WinCup new ERP Implementation (Sage X3) as our Procurement subject matter expert (SME).
- Interface with Plant Managers, Material Planers, Supply Chain, Engineering, Legal and Accounting Team to facilitate delivery of raw materials to all locations.
- Oversee and guide plant raw materials inventory, maximizing productivity while minimizing cost and overhead.
- Serve as an adviser/consultant to internal business partners on all procurement processes.
- Serve as Supplier Advocate to resolve internal WinCup challenges (i.e. late payments).
- Represent WinCup to the supplier and prospect community, and at industry conferences. Ability to travel up to 35%.

Additionally, a high degree of financial and analytical skill as well as the ability to see the big picture will a keen eye for detail.
- Technical Mastery: Proficient with manufacturing processes; experience with continuous manufacturing processes; proficient using CAD software; knowledge of machine controls and process automation; knowledge of plant utility systems (compressed air, boilers, dryers, environmental control systems).
- Continuous Improvement: Always drives to improve skills including, but not limited to: manufacturing best-work-practices, Operation efficiency, Project Management, Technical, Internal Systems / Databases, etc. and the ability to adapt as production conditions warrant.
- Risk Mitigation: Assess, manage and mitigate risks in the procurement processes through staying abreast of market trends, economic factors and regulatory changes that may impact procurement and bring forward proactive solutions to implement changes in strategies was necessary.
- Collaborate and Coordinate: Demonstrates an ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate with other department personnel and internal support. This includes utilizing all WinCup resources at your disposal to effectively handle production issues and support.
- Expert Negotiation and Networking skills: Demonstrates ability to successfully and effectively negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions that benefit the organization.
- Build Strong Relationships/Conflict Resolution: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs, challenges and requirements. Ability to monitor, manage and resolve issues with vendors and suppliers and have the ability to address and resolve issues and disputes that may arise.
- Communication: Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, business writing, grammar and verbal communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills: Must be detail oriented, a team player and highly deadline driven.
Minimum Qualifications
- Eight to ten years of procurement experience at a senior managerial level in a multi-plant manufacturing environment required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or APICS certification required.
- Experience using integrated ERP information systems to manage procurement and raw materials inventory management decisions.
- Proven record of accomplishment of championing RFP initiatives and supplier negotiations.
- Plastics and/or corrugate experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of financial data, cost accounting and ROI.
