Job Position: Production Supervisor

Job Location: TOLLESON, AZ Plant (not remote role)

Shift/Schedule – Night Shift (Rotating) 6:00 pm-6:00 am

Week 1: Work – Monday/Tuesday Off-Wednesday/Thursday Work - Friday/Saturday/Sunday

Week 2: Off - Monday/Tuesday Work - Wednesday/Thursday Off - Friday/Saturday/Sunday)

Reports To: Production or Plant Manager

Job Summary:

Responsible for the manufacturing operations of an assigned shift by assigning work and providing hands-on supervision while following directives, policies and procedures of the company.

Responsibilities:

• Directly supervises production staff that includes production, print and packing leads, forklift driver and shift mechanic.
• Indirectly manages a workforce of approximately 25 to 35 hourly employees engaged in the manufacturing of foam cups, containers and / or straws.
• Complete quality, efficiency and production reports daily.
• Responsible for safely achieving established production schedules and efficiencies while monitoring equipment, processes and operating techniques on a continuous basis to assure quality standards are met.
• Coordinates with the maintenance department to maintain equipment and utilities in proper working condition and monitors to assure equipment is utilized in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensures maximum use of raw materials while minimizing scrap levels to attain company standards.
• Provides accurate records of production, employee absenteeism, accidents, wage increases, vacations and overtime. Responsible for data input into computer programs/systems as required for records.
• Works with quality control personnel to ensure product quality and takes appropriate action(s) when necessary based on the information they provide.
• Conducts job, safety and ad-hoc training sessions with shift personnel.
• Communicates and enforces company work rules and policies.
• Enforces plant safety rules, housekeeping standards and employee work practices in accordance with company policies and OSHA/FDA regulations.
• Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines.
• Performs annual performance evaluations of direct reports and shift employees.
• Responsible for controlling and monitoring attendance and punctuality of the entire shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Production or Plant Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

• College Degree – In related professional field
• 3 years of supervision in a manufacturing production environment
• Mechanical aptitude; computer literate (preferably using Excel, Microsoft Office and HRIS time clocks, etc.), good verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, write and speak English; have good problem solving and organizational skills;

The ability to apply critical thinking and logic to identify root causes of problems, and generate and implement effective solutions to overcome production obstacles and recover from setbacks and improve production performance and quality.
• Continuous Improvement: Always drives to improve skills including, but not limited to: production/manufacturing best work practices, operation efficiencies and the ability to adapt as production conditions warrant.
• Collaborate and Coordinate: Demonstrates an ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate with other department personnel and internal support. This includes utilizing all WinCup resources to effectively handle production issues and support.
• Organizational skills: Possess excellent organizational stills to be able to effectively plan, prioritize, and coordinate production tasks and schedules, and timeliness and budget expectations. Maintain order and control over production operations and resources to assist in the prevention of errors and waste. The ability to accurately manage and leverage labor planning to maximize performance, productivity and efficiency.
• Decision Making Skills: The ability to demonstrate sound decision-making skills to make timely and informed choices regarding production issues, such as what, when, how, to meet production requirements related to production demands, what resources to use, and how to deal with uncertainties and risks. The ability to weigh the pros and cons of different alternatives, and consider the short-term and long-term impacts of those decisions on production efficiencies and quality. The ability to optimize production outcomes and avoid costly mistakes and delays by leveraging labor planning methods.
• Communication: Must possess effective communication skills in order to be able to convey production plans, goals, and instructions to different stakeholders, such as peers, managers, and team members. The ability to listen and process feedback, suggestions, and complaints, and respond appropriately. The ability to build rapport, trust, and collaboration among production team members and other parties, and ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards a common objective.
• Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills: Must be detail oriented, team player, collaborate effectively and be highly deadline driven.
  
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Manufacturing Plant):

• Team Member will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
• Team Member will be required to observe and assess information in a fast paced environment.
• Requires frequent use of a production, manufacturing equipment and/or machinery.
• Will be required to frequently move/transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds which may require frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.
• Team Member may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
• Team Member may be required to stand for long periods up to 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts.
• Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
  
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):

Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so these work environment details may not always apply, they should still be noted.

• Work space is one that contains moving mechanical parts.
• Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.
• Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
• Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
• Ability to work an 8 , 10 or 12 hour shifts as designated.
• Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
