Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer

Wind Gap Municipal Authority is looking for Plant Laborer to join our team in Wind Gap, PA!

As a Plant Laborer, you will be responsible for the general operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility, lift stations, and collection system. Work includes the sampling and testing of wastewater; responding to emergencies after hours; operating light to heavy equipment; and assisting with equipment maintenance and assisting with sanitary sewer line maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Will be required to perform a variety of tasks at the treatment plant, lift stations, and throughout the sewer system. Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Physical labor such as lifting equipment and materials (up to 100 pounds), facility cleaning, performing demolition work, painting, grass cutting, general grounds keeping, etc.
• Competent use of hand tools.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and instrumentation.
• Operate small equipment such as forklift.
• Ability to work with, around and in wastewater. Including but not limited to equipment that has been in contact with, processes or contains wastewater, screenings, sludge and biosolids.
• Work a rotating weekend and holiday schedule after receiving proper training and under the direction of a licensed operator.
• Availability for after-hours call outs.
• Qualified candidates must live within 30 minutes of the treatment water plant address: 578 Abel Colony Rd, Wind Gap, PA 18091

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to pass drug screen, background check and E-Verify.
• Valid PA driver's license required.
• Mechanical skills are important.
• Works well with others and follows safety cautions when working in hazardous conditions.
• Ability/desire to obtain PA Wastewater Certifications within two years of hire.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
