Plant Engineering Project Manager
Position Summary :
Wind River Environmental is currently searching for an experienced traveling Project Manager with over 10 years of industry and project management experience to join our Wastewater Treatment Business Line to support our privately owned wastewater treatment facilities located on the eastern seaboard. This is a key position within the organization and will report directly to the SVP Operations. And will be part of the Senior Plant Operations Leadership team.
In this multifaceted hands-on project management role, you will be supporting all our facilities on the eastern seaboard, with additional facilities being added in the future through our M&A activities.
This position will lead and have full financial, technical, operational and compliance responsibility for multiple projects. Each facility in the region has onsite full-time operators that run the facilities, and a local reginal senior manager who manages the daily operations, the permits and the facilities P&L’s.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, hands-on Project Manager to join our growing company and take the lead managing projects at the various facilities. Projects will include facility and process upgrades, repairs, new facility build outs, equipment and process trouble shooting in addition this role will conduct routine company defined EH&S site audits at the facilities.
The person in this position will utilize their proven project management experience, technical / engineering expertise, and technical knowledge of Wastewater treatment, design, construction, maintenance and operations to serve as the lead Project Manager for all facilities. This is a ‘hands-on’ role with an expectation of leading tasks and projects, managing indirect teams, ensuring permit compliance, building strong trustworthy relationships with regulatory agencies, being responsive and professional when interacting with internal and external vendors and customers, developing project justifications and budgets, managing project budgets and timelines, and participating in M&A evaluation of potential new facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop project scope, budgets and delivery schedules, responsible for ensuring tasks / projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Supervises day-to-day operations resources and contractors etc. for approved projects.
- Identify, source and procure equipment and materials for approved projects.
- Manage project schedules are maintained, and projects proceed according to plan.
- Evaluate facilities and working with the local operators and local senior manager identify and prioritize facility upgrades and improvement, through data-driven process develop budget with ROI / justification.
- Establish and maintain a project priority list. Reevaluate the priority list as factors change.
- Once a project is approved working with facility staff and regional senior manager plan, organize, direct and control all installation, engineering repair, upgrades and expansion activities at the treatment facilities to avoid downtime and to support profitable reliable operations and growth.
- Develop close working relationships with the regional senior managers, the supervisors at the facilities and key vendors.
- Ensure projects when needed are compliant with all laws and regulations.
- Actively manage approved projects including material ordering, shipping, labor plans, job site supervision, job folder updates, report weekly actual vs estimate (financial and schedule) and project summary reports.
- Help SVP annually to develop annual capital budget.
- Ensure projects are completed following all company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate professional leadership by providing excellent service through responsive, communication and commitment to internal partners, management, vendors and external resources.
- Mentor and guide local teammates developing their skills to help them become more technically competent, effective and productive.
- Ability to investigate issues, find the root cause, know when to ask for additional internal or external help or advice. Once a root cause is identified confirm these findings if possible and then then develop the plan to solve or address the issue.
- Maintain and champion Wind River Environmental EH&S and compliance standards.
