DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Wind River Tribal Court
POSITION :* Receptionist*
HOURLY: $* 20.00* SALARY: $41,600.00
OPENING: 1/21/2025 CLOSING: 2/7/2025
SUPERVISION:* The Receptionist is under direct supervision of the Court Administrator*
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets all court patrons at the service window, receives incoming telephone calls for the court, obtain the caller’s name and forward calls to the appropriate court clerk.
- Provides general court information and limited assistance to court patrons, answering inquiries for the general public.
- Responsible for picking up/dropping off mail daily. Maintains daily mail log. Receives and forwards mail to appropriate court clerk/judge.
- Responsible for filing all court papers submitted to the court and forwarding to the appropriate court clerk.
- Assisting court clerks with basic office duties; i.e. copying, scanning, sorting, filing, etc.
- Perform other duties that are reasonably expected to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the Tribal Court System.
- Work schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM- 4:45 PM. No extended hours or weekends, unless court bonded to receive bond monies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, database software, Google systems, and have general knowledge of all standard office equipment.
- Good understanding of policies and procedures of the Shoshone and Arapaho Law and Order Code.
- Must possess the ability to meet and deal effectively with the general public and representatives of outside agencies.
- Must possess the ability to comprehend and acquire a general knowledge of legal terminology, format, and procedures.
- Must work well with others and possess the ability to assist others.
- Must possess and demonstrate the ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
- Must have the ability to calculate deadlines and possess the basic knowledge of the Tribal court structure.
- State of Wyoming Notary Public certification preferred but not required, or ability to become a notary public.
- Ability to be bonded and insured to collect bond, fine, and fee monies.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Must be twenty one (21) years of age or older at the time of hire.
- Must have good moral character and high ethical standards.
- Will be subject to drug screening prior to employment. Any positive results will result in being excluded from hire.
- Must never have been convicted of a felony, or a misdemeanor in any court of law within two (2) years of application for employment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Has not received a dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
- Will be subject to a fast paced work environment with high flow in court documents requiring an exceptionally high level of organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks with little to no supervision at times.
- Must be dependable in following through with work assignments, and be dependable and consistent in attendance and productivity.
- Must deal with the general public and staff in a positive and objective manner.
- Must maintain the utmost strict confidentiality standards in all aspects with court documents, court hearings, and patrons. Any employee found to be in breach of any level of confidentiality will be subject to grounds for disciplinary action and/or termination.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Highschool Diploma or GED/HiSET required
- AA (Associates Degree) in any field from an accredited higher education institution OR at least two (2) years of any post secondary education, OR two (2) years of general office experience.
- Must have excellent filing, organization, and computer skills.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn court databases.

- Contacts with the public are frequent adn often under circumstances of stress involving uncooperative or hostile individuals. Requires knowledge and application of appropriate verbal communication and human relation techniques. Ability to communicate effectively and display a high degree of critical thinking.
REQUIREMENT: Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must pass a background check. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must maintain strict confidentiality. Preference will be given to enrolled Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho members.
