Job Summary:
Gulf Cable is seeking a proactive and engaged Training and Development Facilitator to join our Training & Development Department. This position will be key in monitoring, addressing, and correcting unsafe behaviors on the production floor in real-time. The Training and Development Facilitator will spend the majority of their time on the production floor, observing safety practices, providing immediate feedback, and ensuring that employees follow established safety protocols. This role is hands-on and will work closely with both the Safety and Training teams to foster a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and continuously improve employee safety practices. This position requires complete fluency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and speak in both languages.
Key Responsibilities:
Real-Time Safety Observation & Correction:
- Monitor and observe safety behaviors on the production floor, identifying unsafe actions and practices.
- Address and correct unsafe behaviors immediately, providing direct feedback to employees and implementing corrective measures.
- Reinforce safety standards, policies, and best practices on the spot to prevent accidents and promote a safer work environment.
On-the-Spot Training & Support:
- Provide immediate training, guidance, and support to employees regarding safety procedures when unsafe behaviors are observed.
- Conduct brief safety training sessions, tool-box talks, and coaching moments in real-time to address specific safety issues and reinforce safe practices.
- Work closely with employees to improve their safety awareness and support their ongoing development in maintaining safe behaviors.
Incident Monitoring & Reporting:
- Document and track unsafe behaviors, safety incidents, and near-misses observed on the floor.
- Provide feedback and insights into safety trends, helping to identify common issues and contributing to the development of targeted training programs.
- Assist with the investigation of safety incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Promoting Safety Culture:
- Act as a visible and approachable safety leader on the production floor, promoting a culture of safety, responsibility, and accountability.
- Encourage open communication regarding safety concerns and empower employees to voice safety-related issues.
- Support safety programs and initiatives that enhance overall safety performance and employee engagement.
Safety Training Development & Implementation:
- Collaborate with the Training & Development team to design and implement safety training programs, addressing both general safety guidelines and specific behaviors or hazards.
- Assist in the creation of training materials and resources based on real-world observations and trends.
- Facilitate safety training sessions, including refresher courses and specialized training on high-risk behaviors or procedures.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure that all safety practices on the production floor are in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, training sessions, and corrective actions taken.
- Monitor the completion of required safety training for all employees and ensure that certifications are kept up to date.
Qualifications:
- OSHA or similar safety certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in a safety-related role within an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and workplace hazard identification.
- Ability to quickly identify unsafe behaviors and implement corrective actions in real time.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage employees and address safety concerns effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) or safety management tools.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is required, with the ability to read, write, and speak in both languages fluently.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, particularly in the cable, electrical, or similar industries.
- Knowledge of behavioral-based safety techniques and best practices.
- Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track safety issues and document solutions effectively.
