MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION DIRECTOR
LOCATION: Windermere Preparatory School
JOB PURPOSE
The Middle School Division Director is responsible for leading the Middle School and articulating its vision while ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of its community. Key responsibility lies in the leadership, development, communication, and coordination of an overall environment that supports the mission and educational goals of the School. The Middle School Director is a twelve-month employee who reports directly to the Assistant Head of School.

SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES/CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP
- Work collaboratively with the academic leadership team to ensure curricular and instructional alignment across the school within the IB Continuum framework.
- Monitor the nature and quality of teaching and learning in the middle school within the MYP framework by conducting frequent walk throughs and classroom observations.
- Provide feedback following an observation that is supportive and encourages reflection and dialogue.
- Work closely with teachers who have been identified as underperforming.
- Reinforce expectations for MYP instructional strategies and classroom management.
- Identify professional development needs for individuals, departments and faculty. Help to lead or facilitate PD sessions.
School Culture and Climate
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
- Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
- Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Employ effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Student Management
- Help support a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student handbook.
- Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
- Review grades on a regular basis to identify students who are underachieving, collaborate with team members to establish appropriate support.
- Ensure that parents are kept informed of underachievement or poor academic performance.
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional times.
Administrative Management
- Oversee Middle School campus operations.
- Lead planning and scheduling of daily school activities, including the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
- Requisition of supplies and equipment and the monitoring and maintenance of inventory.
- Coordinate operational support services such as transportation, custodial, and cafeteria to meet campus needs best.
- Ensure school policies, practices, and legal regulations are followed.
Personnel Management
- Supervise and evaluate the work of the middle school faculty and staff.
- Identify staffing needs and oversee the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new staff.
- Document actions and behaviors which are in violation of school expectations.
- Articulate the school's mission and vision to the community and inspire support in realizing the goals for the community.
- Demonstrate an awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parental involvement.
Other Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements - skills, knowledge, and experience
- Master's Degree in Education
- 3 years experience as a classroom teacher.
- Minimum of 2 years successful experience in an instructional leadership role.
- Experience with the International Baccalaureate Programme, preferably the MYP.
- Google Suite or Microsoft Experience.
