RESIDENTIAL HOUSE PARENT - full time
Location: Windermere Preparatory School - Windermere, FL
Supervisor: Director of Residential Life
The Residential House Parent is a full time position within the WPS Residential Boarding program that supports the students and the Residential Life Administration Team with the supervision and chaperoning of the boarding students, as well as the administration of daily ResLife duties and needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage discipline and consequences in your house related to conduct, room inspections, academic issues, communication with agents/parents, etc.
- Ability to take students to medical visits on scheduled days as needed.
- Must be available to evacuate with students in case of an emergency.
- Maintain house supplies in your building.
- Always ensure student safety and well-being.
- Monitor and enforce safety plans and school policies.
- Ensure that all maintenance requests for student units are submitted within 24 hours of being identified.
- Ensure that all student units are kept in good visual condition for visitors and admission tours.
- Update REACH on a regular basis while on duty.
- Attend to the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of students in your house.
- Maintain medical, pastoral, and discipline information as needed.
- Complete a Duty Report at the end of every shift to ensure proper communication amongst ResLife team.
- Ability to perform specific pastoral responsibilities including but not limited to: (1) Maintain consistent/frequent Parent Communications through WeChat and WhatsApp regarding student(s), (2) Monthly check-in with students and submit a "monthly check-in" pastoral report for each student, (3) Send Academic Report for all students twice a month to parents, house team, and ResLife.
- Plan on working holidays with days being compensated on another date.
- Attend bi-weekly Team Meetings (exact time and day to be coordinated by RLD).
- Responsible for leading weekly meetings for your house.
- Maintain weekly/consistent meetings with Prefect(s).
- Must attend various ResLife events as scheduled (dinners, celebrations, End-of-Year, etc)
- Fill in for other ResLife Team members in emergency situations if needed.
- Willingness to participate in additional extracurricular activities such as trips, on/off campus activities, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the director and administrative team.
- Must be available to work on the following dates: (1) ResLife in-service Training, (2) Student orientation week, (3) New and returning student arrival day at start of each semester, (4) Weekend of student departure at the end of each semester, (5) Weekend before Thanksgiving and/or Spring break when not working that holiday week.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree or some college coursework completed.
- Ability to work the following full-time shifts: (1) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 2:45pm-11pm (30-minute scheduled break each day), (2) Wednesday 2:30pm-11pm (30-minute break scheduled during shift), (3) Friday 2:45pm-12am (30-minute break scheduled during shift)
- 3 years residential life experience, working with teens
- Able to relate well with teenagers
- Ability to be flexible
- Strong interpersonal skills, in particular, pastoral care for teenagers
- Must possess a valid and active driver's license
- Sound judgment, moral compass, and international and cultural understanding.
- Must be able to move about freely, go updown stairs, assist with re-arranging houses as needed.
