7th Grade Social Studies BFMSBellows Falls Middle School is seeking a flexible and motivated individual who is comfortable and confident teaching 7th grade Social Studies. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a proficiency based grading and reporting system, knowledge of best practices including differentiated instruction and the effective use of data to inform instruction. Additionally, interested candidates should possess an understanding and commitment to best practices in middle level education.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIncludes, but not limited to, the following.Provide academic subject instruction in Social Studies, ensuring curriculum map and schedule are followed.Plan for classroom activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving students feedback on completed work to ensuring mastery of presented material and assessments.Confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities.Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meet with parents in person or virtually during conferences.Maintain grades and curriculum assessments online.Attend staff meetings, grade level meetings, school and district professional development.Collaborates as a team player with colleagues and administration.Sees the school as a community.Supports school by attending school sponsored events and activities.Commits to ongoing professional development.Learns new skills and integrates technology as changing pedagogy dictates.Model self-discipline and ethical behavior.Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.Other duties as assignedPreferred but Not RequiredKnowledge of Restorative PracticeExperience with Power SchoolProfessional demeanor and characteristicsAbility to demonstrate, initiative, leadership, collaboration and independent thinking.
