Position Description
Instruct students in the specific area of specialty; help students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences and contribute to their development to meet high expectations; communicate with parents; create a classroom environment conducive to learning; and participate in professional learning. Essential Functions:
- Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility
- Ensures the safety of students
- Implements the Windham Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives
- Manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment.
- Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required
- Assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed
- Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education
- Maintains respect for confidential information
- Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed
- Design clear and specific learning assessments.
- Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner.
- Maintain a positive school community image that encourages ethical student behavior.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents
- Other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or Superintendent
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materials
- Establish and maintain professional relationships
Qualifications/Certificates:
- Bilingual(Spanish/English) preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Must be able to work with a diverse population

- Ability to foster and facilitate learning and classroom management
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills

SUMMER POSITION ONLY
18 days including staff PD for 2 days (7/1-7/2 at $41/Hour)
8:00-1:00 Monday - Thursday (Program Hours 8:30-12:30)
$51.00 per hour
