Position Summary:
The Summer School Coordinator is responsible for planning, supervising and implementing summer school programs to support both enrichment and remedial learning for students..
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Recruit, select recommend, supervise and direct summer school staff
- Train summer school staff
- Process summer school staff compensation
- Establish and promote programming dates and offerings
- Coordinate facilities use, transportation, technology and custodial services
- Manage budgets and purchases
- Coordinate with school nurse to plan for student health needs
- Communicate with staff and parents
- Manage student behaviors
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
- Ability to think strategically and to understand a school and community’s underlying issues
- Ability to inspire and energize students, staff and community
- Excellent clear, consistent and continual communication, and interpersonal skills required with ability to gain the trust and respect of multiple stakeholders
- Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict with common sense management
- Advocate for a diverse group of students with different
- Fosters and embraces accessibility and availability during and after school hours
- Ability to facilitate teams and groups
- Ability and confidence to make independent decisions
- Knowledge of special education legal issues, respective timelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Connecticut certification as leadership experience
- Successful teaching experience
- Knowledge of effective teaching techniques and instructional practices that result in quality learning for all students
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others
- Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable.
- Bilingual (preferred)
SUMMER POSITION ONLY:
18 days including staff PD for 2 days (7/1 and 7/2 at $41.00 per hour)
10 additional hours of planning at $41.00 per hour
Work hours 8:00-1:00 ($56.00 per hour)
Program hours 8:30-12:30
Coordinator gets 40 hours of preparation time, prior to July 1, 2024, at $41 per hour
