About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Vocational Educator to join our team at the Windham School District. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plumbing skills and experience working with adult incarcerated students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of adult incarcerated students.
- Provide instruction in plumbing safety, tools of the trade, introduction to plumbing math, introduction to plumbing drawing, introduction to plumbing fixtures, plastic pipe and fittings, copper tube and fitting, cast iron and steel pipe and fittings, drain waste and water distribution.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and submit reports as required by program needs and administrative requests.
- Supervise adult incarcerated students in classroom settings and manage student behavior in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A High School Diploma from an accredited high school, or hold GED equivalent.
- Five years full-time, wage-earning plumbing experience within the past ten years.
- Three of the five years must be at a Journey or Technician level.
- Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis with a maximum substitution of four years.
Working Conditions
This position requires:
- The ability to communicate (verbal and written), instruct, speak, reason, compile data, interpret policy, interpret procedures and data, concentrate, memorize, alphabetize, understand verbal and written instructions, organize, analyze, maintain emotional control, maintain confidentiality, and work with frequent interruptions.
- The ability to perform full duties of position, lift up to 25 pounds, walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and ramps, kneel, stoop, reach, hear (with aid), visual acuity, speak, travel by car, van, or airplane, drive a car/van, distinguish colors, and work occasional prolonged and irregular work hours.
- Work inside and outside, noise, radiant/electrical energy, work alone, work with others, around machines with moving parts and objects, possible exposure to microwaves in use, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, and exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
