Position Title: High School Special EducatorLocation: BUHSJob Type: Full-TimeReports To: Principal/Special Education CoordinatorStart Date: Fall, 2025Overview: BUHS is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Special Educator to join our innovative program designed to support struggling learners in multiple settings. The ideal candidate will provide small group and/or individualized assistance to students, helping them stay engaged with their schoolwork, develop essential skills, and transition smoothly back into the regular classroom environment. This candidate will also communicate and collaborate effectively with a grade level general education team to support inclusive education in the classroom setting.Key Responsibilities: Student Support: Provide personalized academic and behavioral support to students in the program, helping them complete assignments and reinforcing essential skills.Engagement and Motivation: Develop strategies to engage students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.Behavioral Support: Assist students who are in the program for disciplinary reasons, helping them understand and complete their work.Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, counselors, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to each students education and well-being.Progress Monitoring: Track and document student progress, identifying areas of need and adjusting support strategies as necessary.Parental Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding their childs progress and any concerns.Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.Classroom Management: Demonstrate effective classroom management skills while building strong, positive relationships with students.Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field; Masters degree preferred.Certification: Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with middle school students in a special education setting.Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.Proficiency in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.Effective classroom management and relationship-building skills.Preferred Attributes: Experience with behavioral management techniques.Familiarity with various learning disabilities and special needs.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Application Process:
