Come join a dynamic team of dedicated multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality support and services for students with developmental differences at Brattleboro Union High School.The special education department at Brattleboro Union HS is creating thus new position. This position is intended to support our special educators with their duties to provide an inclusive education for student with disabilities.
Duties for this position include: Manage and coordinate special education services for a caseload of approximately 50 students.Work with the Special Education team, evaluators, specialists, counselors, and/or interventionists to create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students in 9-12th grades.Work with the Special Education team to set instructional and/or behavioral goals in the IEP which are clear, specific, and measurableWork with the Special Education clerk and LEA to schedule annual and triennial reviews.Plan and facilitate IEP meetings, including evaluation planning.Complete Observations as needed.Work closely with their LEA to ensure that meetings, evaluations, and services are coordinated effectively and efficientlyAttend all meetings relating to Special Education (either in person or virtually)Coordinate with special educators to document student progress with accurate information to track student progress and learningMaintain all IEPs and Special Education files in accordance with the regulations of the State of VermontUse and analyze assessment data which fully and accurately provides evidence of student understanding of content and mastery of IEP goals to provide timely and valuable information to teachers, support staff, and familiesConsult with faculty, interventionists, specialists, and support staff, as needed, in order to provide summaries of student needs, to educate teachers about student needs, to clarify Special Education terminology, or to provide mentorship around instructional supports for studentsPeriodically cover for special educators in times of need
