Battery Changer

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for operating a battery tester, recording system to monitor and test approximately 300- 24 volt, 36, 48 volt batteries: which includes adjusting the specific gravity of each cell prior to testing. Responsible for repairs and maintenance of 3 MTC Battery Changers. Maintain, change and service all industrial equipment batteries. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Change all batteries waiting for change. Track the time and record.
• Clean batteries in the wash station.
• Water batteries, take hydrometer reading and record.
• Repair frayed and damaged cables.
• Paint and stencil numbers on batteries.
• Perform preventative maintenance and keep accurate records.
• Ability to rebuild battery connectors and cables.
• Ability to package and dispose of used batteries. Properly record serial numbers of new and used batteries. Keep battery inventory accurate.
• Working knowledge of electrical circuits and electronics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & WORK BEHAVIORS:

• Working knowledge and experience, preferably in both mechanized and conventional warehousing, in picking and storage operations in dry grocery and perishable areas.
• Possess ability to understand and interpret computer reports
• Possess good math skills and figure aptitude.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills, both with co-workers and over the telephone with outside and Company personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Move 50 lbs from ground level frequently; and occasionally up to 65 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Incumbent will work 10 hours daily in a warehousing environment with continuous exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, variations in temperatures from 45 degrees to 95 degrees, and navigate motorized pallet driver through congested isles.
