***MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENSE***
The Driver's primary duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Assists residents into and out of vehicle in a safe manner.
- Able to safely and correctly operate and use lift devices that are required for transport
- Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
- Practices safe driving techniques at all times.
- Reports incidents immediately
- Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories and reports & coordinates vehicle maintenance repairs.
- Establishes and monitors daily and weekly trip inspection & preventative maintenance programs and maintains records regarding the maintenance of all vehicles.
- Delivers groceries and other belongings to resident's apartments.
- Assists the Life Enrichment Department in activities and programs as needed.
- Ensures charges are submitted to the business office daily for community travel expenses.
- Maintain a safe driving record according to company guidelines.
- Handles emergency situations and basic First Aid.
- Reports potentially unsafe conditions to the Executive Director.
- May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards. Responsible for coordinating special provisions for the safety of residents with special needs, i.e., visual deficits, hearing loss.
- Perform fire and safety procedures when needed to assure resident/staff safety and coordinate with maintenance/ environmental services for life safety procedures.
- Maintain inventory of needed supplies for vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school or equivalent
Experience: Prefer two (2) years' experience providing residential care to the elderly or similar experience with specialized dementia care programs.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform calculations in support of personnel actions, budget, and other financial responsibilities.
Reasoning Skills: Understand and conceptualize concepts as well as demonstrate ability to make decisions in stressful situations.
Oral/Written Communication Skills: Be able to explain ideas and to communicate complex ideas to a wide audience (employees, residents, family members, governmental agencies, public, etc.), both in writing and verbally.
Equipment Used: Be proficient in basic office equipment (including a personal computer and handheld devices) for the purpose of accomplishing and maintaining a high level of job performance.
Physical Effort: Must be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job. Good physical health verified by a health screening, including a chest x-ray or an intradermal Mantoux test not more than 6 months prior or seven (7) days after employment as required.
Personal Characteristics: Ability to show sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families
