What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Parents as Teachers Parent Educator position at Windsor C-1 School District?
POSITION TITLE: Part-Time Parent Educator
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 60 credit hours, preferably in the area of early childhood or child development
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
The Parent Educator will provide parent education to parents of children birth to five, screening of children ages two months to kindergarten.
- Provide parent education through regular personal visits
- Assess family needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents
- Serve the number of families determined by the program guidelines
- Complete all required documentation regarding home visits, attendance records for group meeting and other Parents as Teachers events, screening summaries, and all essential records required by the program, in a timely and comprehensive manner
- Actively recruit families to participate in the program
- Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge about what promotes optimal parent-child interaction and infant, toddler, and child development
- Participate in reviewing and analyzing results of evaluation tools used by the program
- Possess effective communication skills while developing trusting relationships with parents as a model for parent-child relationships
- Adhere to required confidnetiality practices
- Participate in professional development as outlined by National Center and DESE
