We are expanding our operation and looking to hire a Materials Manager at our mill located in Dendron, Virginia (Surry County). The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with experience in optimizing processes to manage the flow of materials within manufacturing operations to include the identification and resolution of supply chain challenges.
The Materials Manager will manage material flow across global markets resulting in effective cost management and oversee shipping and receiving, inventory control, and planning functions.
Responsibility:
- Analyze market and delivery systems to develop and implement sustainable material management strategy that meet company-wide standards and regulatory requirements
- Leverage data analytics tools to identify trends in material usage resulting in internal material availability through improved forecasting and operational efficiency
- Establish and track key performance indicators driving continuous improvement
- Implement streamlined processes and manage continuous improvement projects
- Optimize warehouse layout for improved inventory and ensure efficient storage and retrieval of material while reducing discrepancies
- Maintain OSHA compliance and establish safety protocols within the workplace
- Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and other internal teams to ensure material availability and reduce overall production cost
- Enhance relationships and negotiate contract terms to reduce cost and increase quality and delivery
- Maintain highly skilled team members through performance management, continuous improvement and cross-training
- Oversee safety, recognition, performance evaluation, training and development, and disciplinary actions for assigned team of employees
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years’ experience in materials management preferably within manufacturing environment
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) required
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, procurement, and logistics processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced knowledge of Excel
- Demonstrated problem solving ability and analytical skill
- Leadership experience and the ability to drive team performance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, six sigma, and continuous improvement
- Prior experience with J D Edwards software
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business administration or equivalent experience in supply chain management
Compensation Range:
- Annual $80,000 – $120,000; placement in range may vary based on skill and experience
