Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Support Assistant to join our team at the Transportation Department. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing support to students with special needs, promoting their independence and inclusion in the classroom.
The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher(s), site administrator, and Special Education Coordinator to implement specialized education programs and strategies. You will assist in maintaining classroom control, interacting with students, encouraging their performance, observing progress, and meeting instructional needs as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in small group or one-to-one settings to reinforce basic skills or supplement classroom work
- Share observations of students with the classroom teacher(s)
- Participate in program implementation and classroom work, including administering tests, correcting and grading student work, and recording information
- Maintain confidentiality of school-related information
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with students, staff, and the public
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least two (2) years experience working in an educational setting
- Red Cross recognized first aid certificate or successful completion of a first aid course within three months after employment
- Possess or obtain CPR certificate
