What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Collector for Experience Analysis Study position at Windwalker Group?
Windwalker Group is seeking a Data Collector to join its National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC) at Triangle, VA to gather survey and observation data on-site. By collecting information about visitor experiences through survey and observations, the museum aims to gain valuable insights that will inform future museum initiatives.
The Data Collector must be:
- Available to work shifts of 4 to 8 hours a day from when the museum opens to when it closes (9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time). Schedule will be based on your availability and our needs.
- Able to: Collect Data for survey study
- Recruit museum visitors to participate in surveys
- Address any questions before and after participation
- Inform them of their participation rights (voluntary participation, anonymity, confidentiality, and the right to withdraw).
- Explain the survey process, including question types and completion options (paper and digital).
- Provide visitors with both paper and digital survey options (QR code).
- Able to: Collect data for in-depth observation gallery studies
- Conduct multiple observations of museum visitors in the galleries.
- Observe museum visitors' behaviors (e.g., visitors' interactions with exhibits and the time visitors spend in different areas within the gallery).
- Record observation notes on an observation protocol document.
- Throughout Data Collection: Must bring a personal smart phone and laptop for data collection.
- Safeguard all survey data (paper and digital), observation notes, and adhere to specific guidelines for submitting data to the project lead.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and attire, adhering to DoD civilian attire requirements while at the museum.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College students are encouraged to apply (Bachelor’s and/ or Master's degree preferred).
- Preferred education background in the following areas; museum studies, sociology, psychology, anthropology, art history, research, or a related field.
- Preferred prior experience or coursework in research and data collection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in the museum field is a plus.
The pay range for this role is:
20 - 25 USD per hour(National Museum of the Marine Corps.)
