Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including experience with adjacent disciplines such as electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering is strongly preferred. Experience with planning and conducting inspections/investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities/structures is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis is required. Ability to create Construction Documents in AutoCAD and Revit is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, designers, and sub-consultants to complete design and technical portions of projects on-time and within budget, from initial concept design through completion of construction
- Independently support the project team during design and construction stages of projects
- Provide technical leadership in the design of electrical systems in accordance with local codes and client requirements
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
- Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners
- Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal project discipline team members and external vendors and manufacturers
- Communicate mechanical engineering concepts and decisions to clients and stakeholders
- Interact regularly with clients, which includes maintaining current relationships and developing new relationships
- Mentor and train mechanical engineers and designers
- Calculate heating and cooling loads, energy consumption, savings, and life cycle analysis of HVAC systems using energy modeling software
- Select equipment and components for mechanical systems
- Design control systems to include sequences of operation, control schematics, and control points lists
- Provide oversight of all aspects of mechanical design, review systems, drawings prior to issuance
- Survey and evaluate existing conditions and site investigation during the construction administration process
- Review existing drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and field verify accuracy and completeness
- Perform construction administration tasks
- Coordinate with other building design disciplines and work in a team environment
- Support proposal preparation creating technical scopes of work and budget estimates
- Communicate both verbally and in written form in a clear and professional manner with engineers, construction managers, equipment suppliers, contractors, and client representatives
- Delegate design tasks to junior staff and review their work for quality and accuracy
- Work with senior staff to develop and continuously improve department design and execution standards
- Strong proficiency with Mechanical Engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including comprehensive experience in working with adjacent disciplines such as electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering
- Strong working knowledge of relevant engineering and mechanical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization
- Experienced with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations
- Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Developing self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with clients effectively, persuasively, and tactfully, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to interact well with others as well as develop and contribute to high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals
- Experience mentoring and training engineers and designers within the Electrical Engineering field
- Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WINDWARD’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis
- 7 years of relevant, post education, experience a Mechanical Engineer, building engineering design and construction of multi-disciplinary projects
- PE License required. LEED AP Certification a plus
- Ability to create Construction Documents in AutoCAD and Revit is required
- Must be able to work on-site/in-person (approx. 2 days each week)
- Project Management or Lead Engineer Experience a plus
- Project experience in Education, Corporate/Commercial Office, State and Local Government market sectors. Hospitality market sector a plus
- Resourceful team player possessing strong planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work within project budgets and schedules
