What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Services Floor Supervisor position at Windwood Family Services?
The Floor supervisor is the lead staff in managing all daily activities of the direct care staff and the youth who are placed in our residential treatment program. Ensures new staff members receive frequent supervision, which includes training in the basic aspects of the job. The frequency and intensity of supervision is adjusted individually for the new employee by the onboarding process’s review of agency philosophy and mission, review of agency policies, and by direct on the job training and mentoring to prepare them to assume the job duties.
Supervises Direct Care Staff in their interactions with youth while carrying out their activities of daily living (ADL), in the development of pro-social skills, in accordance with their needs, age and developmental level, and in adhering to the youth’ individualized treatment plan developed by the program therapist. Ensures direct care staff’s interactions with program residents promote optimum outcomes for safety, well-being, and permanency.
The Floor Supervisor must be ready to intervene when staff behaviors are not appropriate when working with youth, i.e. using demeaning or threatening language, violation of physical boundaries, using cell phone during work hours, sleeping on the job, denying youth food, hydration, or use of bathroom.
The floor supervisor assumes responsibility for introducing new residents to the program and works to make them feel comfortable in their new surroundings; introduces them to the direct care staff who will be working with them, and to the other residents in the program. They review the daily schedule and house rules with the youth the day they arrive. They must give the new resident a tour of the property and buildings. They review the client handbook, explain behavior expectations, and ensure the youth have all essential personal needs items, clothing, bedding, and school supplies.
Bachelor's or Master's degree a plus!
