This is a remote work opportunity but we require our selected candidate to be based in or near a WTW Hub - Boone, Asheville, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, or Raleigh, NC .

As the Major Gifts Officer at Wine To Water, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating, stewarding, and expanding relationships with high-capacity donors, including individuals, and family foundations. You will manage a robust portfolio of existing supporters while identifying and nurturing prospective donors to inspire transformational giving.

This is a hands-on role requiring professionalism, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a proactive, polished approach. You’ll thrive in this position if you are a warm, approachable communicator who builds meaningful connections and leaves a lasting impression. You are proactive, inquisitive, and highly organized, able to take ownership of your portfolio without extensive oversight. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Donor and Partner Liaison : Represent WTW at key events and in donor / partner meetings, serving as an ambassador for the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Portfolio Management : Manage a portfolio of high-capacity individuals and family foundations, prioritizing five- and six-figure gifts while working toward securing seven-figure gifts and multi-year commitments.
  • Prospect Development : Build and maintain an impactful portfolio of prospects and leads, leveraging WTW Filter Build and events to identify new opportunities.
  • Partner Engagement : Faithfully and promptly communicate with partners to ensure retention and growth, engaging them in a shared vision to advance WTW’s mission.
  • Strategic Pitching : Develop and deliver tailored presentations and proposals, aligning WTW partnerships with the donor’s impact goals.
  • Storytelling : Share WTW’s story with passion and precision to inspire action and deepen donor engagement.
  • Sustainable Funding : Cultivate long-term donors and funding partners to build sustainable funding streams.
  • Collaboration : Partner with International Programs, Marketing / Communications, and other teams to create compelling proposals, presentations, and impact reports.
  • Event Representation : Represent WTW at strategic events, meetings, and WTW Filter Build® opportunities, facilitating high-impact engagements.
  • Operational Coordination : Ensure all donor communications, reports, appeals, and collateral align with the annual calendar and are coordinated with the Marketing / Communications team.
  • Meeting Facilitation : Schedule and lead in-person and virtual meetings to cultivate and strengthen partner relationships.
  • Organizational Support : Work closely with the Senior Director of Development to ensure major donors are effectively supported across the organization.
  • Other Responsibilities : Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Development and Partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Mission Alignment : Deeply committed to WTW’s mission, programs, and values.
  • 5 years of fundraising experience.
  • 2 years of demonstrated success in securing five, six-figure gifts, with the ability and motivation to seek seven-figure support.
  • Successful Portfolio History – at least 2 years of experience working with high-capacity individuals, family foundations, and / or corporate partners at $50,000 and $100,000 levels.
  • 5 years of demonstrated success in external-facing roles requiring outstanding customer service skills, with a proven ability to treat donors and partners with dignity, respect, and gratitude.
  • Experience engaging with high-capacity individuals, family foundations, or corporate partners preferred.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, effectively pivoting priorities and approaches as needed to meet organizational goals and donor needs.
  • In-depth working knowledge of major gifts fundraising, proposal development, and the donation lifecycle, with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex donor relationships and secure long-term support.
  • Strong pipeline management skills with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) to track and manage donor relationships, ensuring effective engagement and sustained growth.
  • Proven ability to connect with authenticity and professionalism across a broad spectrum of donors and partners, including individuals and organizations from diverse communities, income levels, industries, faith backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Experience in fundraising or business development with an entrepreneurial background that embraces and thrives in an environment with constant change and growth.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required to support the mission and engage with key donors and partners.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas, engage audiences, and write compelling donor communications.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite; experienced in using these tools to enhance productivity, communication, and collaboration.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Canva to create visually appealing, on-brand content for donor and partner materials (preferred).
