JOB SUMMARY:
The WNC Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a member of the marketing and communications team, and is responsible for maintaining WTW branding across the organization throughout the western North Carolina area. They will provide marketing and communications oversight, support, and guidance to the U.S. Programs team. The role will oversee the coordinated implementation of projects designed to increase confidence in and access to clean drinking water following the impacts of Hurricane Helene. The primary focus will be support of the team’s efforts to engage with communities, raise awareness about safe drinking water, conduct water quality testing, and implement appropriate water treatment solutions. The WNC MarComms Coordinator will focus on marketing and collateral that is used by the WNC program office, and must have strong conceptual, editing, and design skills to generate strategic content that supports the success and growth of WNC regional influence and impact.
INTERDEPENDENCE & LEADERSHIP:
The Program Manager will work directly with the Director of US Programs as well as counterparts in Watauga County to ensure coordinated and effective implementation of activities. They will help improve communication systems and help to grow our developing WASH programs in the region. They will maintain consistent communication with the recovery leadership team about the team's challenges, opportunities, and progress toward programmatic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Management:
Ensure all WTW materials meet brand standards to keep organizational continuity and identity strong.
Asset Development and Design:
Oversee the update of pre-existing educational or marketing assets, and collaborate with Programs team members and WTW marketing team to develop new assets that will aid in achieving programmatic goals.
Team Leadership & Guidance:
Provide direct support to the Community Engagement Specialist and Water Quality Specialist, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to effectively carry out their duties.
Regularly meet with team members to discuss progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with program goals.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the team, encouraging professional growth and development.
Program Management & Accountability:
Oversee the marketing & communications for community outreach activities, water quality testing programs, and filter distribution efforts to ensure that all programs are executed with excellence and in accordance with program objectives.
Reporting, Storytelling, & Monitoring:
Prepare and submit regular progress reports to senior management, outlining the status of ongoing initiatives, key outcomes, and challenges.
Collaborate with the team to collect data, analyze performance metrics, and track the impact of community engagement and water quality testing efforts.
Ensure accurate documentation of all program activities, including community outreach, water quality test results, and filter distribution.
Strategic Planning & Program Development:
Collaborate with the Western North Carolina Recovery team to develop and refine marketing & communication strategies for improving the organization’s water safety and community health programs.
Identify areas for improvement or innovation within the programs and work with the team to implement new approaches or initiatives.
Stay informed on trends in water quality, environmental health, and community engagement to ensure that the programs remain relevant and impactful.
Identify needs and vulnerabilities for future resiliency programming.
Community Relationship Building:
Work closely with the Western North Carolina Recovery team to strengthen relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and residents.
Ensure that the organization maintains a positive and responsive presence within the communities served, addressing concerns or feedback as needed.
Represent the organization in community meetings, public forums, and events to advocate for water safety and engage with key stakeholders.
Organizational Culture Building:
Promote and model a positive organizational culture that aligns with the organization’s values, mission, and vision.
Encourage open communication, respect for diversity, and a team-oriented work environment.
Organize team-building activities or workshops that strengthen collaboration and morale.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, business, nonprofit management, or related field.
At least three years of professional writing, communications, marketing, and/or public relations experience.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Experience producing materials for digital and print communications, social media, graphic design, and websites.
Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Suite, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office, and some experience with Salesforce.
Skills & Competencies:
Motivated self-starter with demonstrated good judgment, critical thinking, flexibility, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proven ability to prepare detailed reports, track performance metrics, and evaluate program success.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community members, partners, and stakeholders.
Experience in community health or environmental health programs is highly desirable.
Additional Attributes:
Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is highly preferred to effectively communicate with diverse communities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, DOCUMENTATION, AND SAFETY
Sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment; the employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, kneel, and at times may be required to lift 25 pounds and can be exposed to indoor, outdoor temperatures and various living situations. Must be able to operate motorized vehicles with a valid license.
Required domestic and international travel documentation and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries may be necessary to perform this role - This role may be in high-risk zones and require documentation and medical clearance by various governments to enter disaster areas with significant public health risks.
Exceptional understanding of risk management policies and best practices
Adhere to WTW’s safety action plan and procedures.
This position will involve a combination of office-based tasks and fieldwork. Occasional travel may be required to visit communities and attend meetings or events.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to accommodate community outreach or program deadlines.
