JOB TITLE : Transportation Planner
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Wineshipping is a tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) provider for alcoholic beverage companies, managing the fastest, most accurate, and most cost-efficient delivery network in the US for wine, beer, spirits, and more. We have been awarded North Bay Business Journal’s Supplier of the Year (Wine Beer & Spirits Awards) and most recently we were voted “Best Place to Work” by Best of Napa County magazine.
The Transportation Planner is responsible for inbound, outbound, and intermodal transportation including yard management, cost control, carrier selection (including contracts and negotiation), and improvement projects. This position executes powerfully as it relates to transportation functions for Wineshipping. Key success indicators for the Transportation team will be operating efficiencies, margin excellence and improved operating costs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for preforming the day-to-day execution of transportation moves and brokerage arrangements for Wineshipping,
- Works directly with clients to activate and execute freight moves across the network.
- Maintains Internal Product Transfer processes and protocols
- Plan and organize resources based on current needs and projections for growth.
- Monitor performance of carriers, service providers, etc. to ensure service and quality standards are met
- Demonstrates clear and consistent communication with all carriers and service providers and builds great relationships with them.
- Participates in forecasting and capacity planning with carriers and service providers.
- Challenge conventional thinking and existing business solutions to improve results and reduce volatility
- Any other responsibilities that management deems essential and other duties as assigned, we like to keep it interesting!
