Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for an enriching summer experience. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children. You will have the opportunity to inspire and nurture young minds while facilitating various activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and personal growth. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for working with children and have relevant experience in early childhood education or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the direct leadership of all daily activities and events.
- Required to plan and facilitate weekly activities for his/her assigned camp.
- Cooperate with co-workers and administrative staff.
- Will maintain good public relations and be enthusiastic supporters of the Park District and its programs.
- Must prepare for and attend weekly staff meetings and special events as required.
- Must participate in a written evaluation of his/her work at the close of the season with the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator.
- Supervise and help with the work of the junior counselors (when needed)
- Perform job in the safest manner possible and in compliance with District Safety Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications:
- At least 16 years of age.
- One (1) year of experience in working with children preferred.
- Knowledge of age characteristics and appropriate activities for children ages 3-12.
- First Aid and CPR Certification. Certification will be given if not currently certified.
- Good physical condition, abundant energy, and a great sense of humor.
- Mature and has the ability to use good judgment.
- Takes initiative.
- Enjoys working outside in warm/hot weather.
- Ability to adapt.
- Possess leadership skills.
- Ability to swim, and actively participate in camper activities
- Valid Driver’s License

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

- Afternoon shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
