Maintenance Technician

POSITION PURPOSE:

As a Senior Maintenance Technician in our manufacturing plant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our equipment, systems, and facilities. Your responsibilities will include light plumbing (understanding of pneumatic a plus), basic carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing and aligning new machinery, and creating or repairing jigs, fixtures, and buildings as needed. You will also perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating machinery, replacing parts, and ensuring equipment operates at peak performance. This position requires strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively while setting a high standard for quality and safety. Of course, as a Sr. Technician, we are looking for someone that can work hand-in-hand with the supervisor to ensure that the work orders are being done timely and the crew is trained properly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Machinery Maintenance

• Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, or other calibration or electrical testing equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
• Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
• Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
• Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
• Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
• Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
• Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to specified procedures.
• Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
• Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
• Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
• Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.

General Maintenance

• Communicate with coworkers to coordinate installations or repairs.
• Provide groundskeeping services
• Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
• Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
• Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.
• Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.
• Assemble, repair, and move office furniture and equipment as needed
• Operate lift trucks and/or Company vehicles as required to collect, distribute, acquire, dispose of, or otherwise move tools, materials, and/or equipment

• Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years experience as maintenance technician or light carpentry/plumbing/electrical handyman
  • 1-2 years experience and various trade school experience
• Knowledge of the materials, tools and equipment used in construction, maintenance and repair of facilities, basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical.
• Knowledge of working with safely, including use of chemicals; proper operation and maintenance of hand and power tools, vehicles and equipment
• Basic mathematical computations; effective customer service dealing with other departments around the plant(s).
• Read, understand and interpret a wide variety of technical and non-technical manuals, specifications and work orders
• General working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pumps, motors, pneumatics, plumbing and carpentry preferred
• All tools provided. Of course, you can bring a personal toolbox if you like.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, climb, or squat for long periods of time
• Ability to remain on feet for majority of the workday
• Lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, and up to 150 pounds with assistance
