What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Loan Officer - Outside Sales position at Wings Credit Union?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This position will market and originate mortgage loans. Independently source mortgage loan referrals and production from realtors, builders, financial professionals, and other nontraditional sources. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine the borrower’s financing objectives, advise on products and pricing, and gather any additional required information. Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to all regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop lending relationships to self-source loan referrals to generate loan volume within the market area.
- Educate prospective & existing partners of Wings mortgage programs & requirements.
- Partner with mortgage business development to engage in marketing and promotional activities to increase prospects.
- Spend at least one or two hours a day, two or more times a week, outside of the office (including a home office building a referral network.
- Gather all necessary information and documentation for analysis, disclosure, and underwriting loan application.
- Educate members regarding financing options, rates & products to ensure they receive the appropriate product to meet their needs.
- Utilizes automated underwriting system as an underwriting tool to ensure borrower meets applicable loan guidelines.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements including state specific lending requirements for those states that Wings Credit Union offers financing. Including attorney requirements and community property laws.
- Skilled knowledge of products, policies, procedures & secondary market, and credit union guidelines.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with member, realtor, underwriter, processor and closer to ensure closing dates are met.
- Develop and maintain a high degree of visibility for Wings Credit Union in the marketplace.
- Stay informed of investor guidelines, market conditions, and competitor rates & products to best align products with borrower needs.
- Maintain a commitment to professional development by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining business networks.
- Adheres to QC standards identified in performance plan.
- Responsible for security and privacy of all personal identifiable information & documentation.
- Meets or exceeds by achieving related individual/department/corporate goals.
- Timely completion of required annual compliance training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree preferred
- 3 years mortgage Loan Officer experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of sales prospecting and generating referrals.
- Professional appearance for public contact
- Delivers premier customer service.
- Working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Excel; Word)
- Ability to work with limited supervision, manage time, prioritize and multitask.
- Being self-motivated and having a high attention to detail are a necessity.
- Required to obtain or possess a Mortgage Loan originator (“MLO”) unique qualifier (NMLS registration number). Must have the ability to successfully completed all MLO Registry requirements, including passing background and credit checks and submitting to fingerprinting and to any other requirements of the rules enacted pursuant to the S.A.F.E. Act.

Pay Range: $60-$70k base salary plus incentives and annual bonus. The estimated hiring range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
